Custom domains for your Jira Service Management

Atlassian has introduced a brand new feature for Jira Service Management that allows you to use custom domains for your help centers. Now you can easily switch from the default URL acme.atlassian.net to a custom domain such as customer.support.acme.com.

This new feature strengthens your brand presence and credibility as you now use a domain that suits your company. The benefit is obvious: a stronger connection to your brand and an improved customer experience.

Set up custom domains

Setup is straightforward and can be completed in just a few steps. Log in to admin.atlassian.com, select your organization and navigate to "Products > Product URLs". In the "Custom domains" tab, add your new domain.

Please note that you must be an organization administrator and have access to your DNS provider to add a custom domain.

Important notes

The feature is currently in the beta test phase and will be rolled out gradually for organizations. At this stage, you can only add a custom domain for the Jira Service Management help center. Atlassian plans to offer this feature for other products as well.

There are some limitations that you should be aware of. For example, changing the domain may have an impact on some apps and integrations that affect the Help Center. If you are using Atlassian's Halp for chat-based ticketing, we recommend waiting to add a custom domain until some known issues are resolved.

Some specifics to note regarding SSL certificates:

  • a valid certificate is required for each fully qualified domain (provided by Atlassian)
  • Atlassian generates this certificate via Amazon Web Services (AWS), certificate authority is amazon.com
  • Own certificates cannot currently be used and will be rejected
