Rovo is your versatile AI colleague for the entire Atlassian software suite. Whether Jira, Confluence, Slack etc., Rovo actively supports you in your teamwork. It helps you to find the right information, understand it better and supports you with numerous measures. Sounds great? Yes, but unfortunately Rovo was behind a paywall ... until now.
Since April 9, 2025, Rovo has gradually been activated free of charge for all Atlassian users! In the first step, existing Rovo contracts will no longer be charged. Anyone who had an AI-enabled Enterprise plan for Jira, JSM, Confluence and the Teamwork Collection but had not booked the feature itself will receive the AI colleague free of charge. The standard plans will also soon receive Rovo free of charge, but an exact date for this is unfortunately not yet known.
Rovo is not a single tool, but an entire AI suite. From the intelligent assistant Rovo Chat to Rovo Search and numerous agents, the software offers a wide range of supporting, clever functions:
Rovo Chat is an intelligent assistant that finds answers across systems and can trigger actions directly from the chat. This includes, for example, creating Jira work items or sending a post on Slack. Rovo Chat supports voice and file uploads and is available on desktop and mobile.
Rovo Search links data from Atlassian tools and third-party SaaS applications supported by the Teamwork Graph. It delivers relevant, contextualized results - not just keyword hits!
Smart links, unified search across your tool chain and follow-up suggestions mean teams spend less time searching for information and more time processing it.
This means faster decision making, fewer information silos and less reliance on manual knowledge sharing.
Rovo Studio enables developers and power users to create AI agents, automations and applications with low-code/no-code tools - all within the Atlassian ecosystem. Whether you're a developer, administrator or non-technical colleague, you can use Studio to create your own agents that meet specific requirements and deliver fast results.
Rovo Agents are AI helpers that automate tasks and optimize complex processes. They are seamlessly integrated into Atlassian's cloud tools and are ready to use out of the box. Alternatively, they can be created in Rovo Studio, e.g. based on an existing agent. They work in real time and can be configured by team members to incorporate additional knowledge or perform additional actions.
Structure and approach of agents:
There are currently 20 out of the box agents available:
Creates and reviews PRDs (Product Requirement Documents) for Product Managers
Creation of comprehensive and clear release notes from up to 20 Jira issues at once, using the Release Notes Drafter. Summary and grouping of work items into topic blocks.
Translate your texts into most languages with the Global Translator. It can help you overcome communication barriers or make your content more accessible to users of other languages.
This agent helps to communicate decisions clearly using the DACI framework. When the DACI framework (DACI stands for Driver, Approver, Contributor, Informed) is used in decision-making, the Decision Director reviews your document and suggests improvements and resources to support your decision.
Create effective and consistent OKRs with the OKR Generator. Review draft OKRs, find similar OKRs, share resources for writing good OKRs or create OKRs from scratch.
Take large projects, epics or extensive and complex processes and break them down into smaller, actionable tasks. The Work Item Planner Agent helps you do this.
Real-time overview of ongoing projects and their priorities. Overview of what is currently being worked on and what should be prioritized next.
Finding and updating issues in your project is quick and easy. This agent can move issues to sprints, assign them to epics, delete old issues and much more.
This agent is intended for use within an automation rule. It is triggered by keywords that indicate that an issue could be blocked. The agent then signals the automation rule to update the status of the issue to blocked.
Assists in writing clear and concise bug reports with all the necessary details to improve the quality of the initial assessment.
Checks whether an issue description meets the team's definition and creates suggestions if it does not.
Optimize incident management with Ops Guide. Ops Guide assists with on-call services and provides guidance to mitigate the impact of incidents to reduce the time to detect, respond and resolve them.
The Service Request Helper increases the productivity of service teams by helping them write responses based on insights from previous requests. It also helps identify referrers for requests, suggests actions based on data and provides accurate summaries to speed up the resolution of support requests.
This agent identifies themes among Jira work items or groups issues into themes to create epics using, for example, a Jira Query Language (JQL) query or a search results page.
This agent turns the transcript of a meeting into insights and recommendations that can be converted into action items.
Makes it easier to get started with Rovo with, for example, links to further information or answers to questions.
In our upcoming blog posts, we will give you further and, above all, deeper insights into Atlassian's Rovo AI.
